Surveillance Systems

The Electronic Surveillance and Coordination (ESC) branch of Cyber and Electronic Warfare Division conducts research on technologies that sense, shape and exploit the electromagnetic battlespace, and that enable the effective coordination of distributed electronic warfare assets to achieve force level electronic warfare effects.

Electromagnetic Battle
The Electromagnetic Battle Management group integrates EW systems, sensors, effectors and battle management tools/concepts within an information systems construct to examine Force-level EW concepts and analyze military systems. Infrastructure in this area includes sophisticated modeling and simulation environments and Unmanned Aerial vehicles (UAV)-based distributed EW testbeds.

Quantum Technologies
Quantum Technologies can be defined as those technologies that rely on the quantum mechanical principles of entanglement and superposition. The group is focused on the second quantum revolution which involves the application of the rules derived from the first quantum revolution to develop new materials and applications that go beyond the limitations of classical physics.

RF Sensing and Shaping
The RF Sensing and Shaping group undertakes research and development on wideband integrated RF technologies, EW modeling and analysis, and wideband spectrum shaping technologies and techniques. The group provides ongoing operational and S&T support to multiple phases of SEA 1397, ensuring the protection of RAN major combatants against current and future anti-ship missile threats.

The RF Signal Analytics group conducts client-focused R&D to support the capture, processing and exploitation of modern RF signals that are representative of an increasingly dense and complex electromagnetic environment.
